Easel An inexpensive wooden easel will make it easy to hold the sketch board while drawing. I made an easel out of a stepladder, which works quite well for me. It is a metal ladder that has plastic steps and the last piece at the top is a tray. I drilled a couple of 1/2″ diameter holes and cut two 3″ lengths of wooden dowels of the same diameter. The dowels were then inserted into the tray holes. The metal bar that arcs over the top of the ladder forms the backing for the sketch board. I put my drawing kit in a cardboard tray taped to the top step.
