La sécheresse créative se poursuivit, cependant il gagna l’année suivante en 1937 le W. A. Clark Prize et la Corcoran Golden Medal à la 15e Biennale de Corcoran. Au début de 1938, Edward fut invité à figurer dans le jury des expositions à Philadelphie à la Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts et au Virginia Museum of Fine Arts de Richmond.
