Regret, anger, and blame only distract you and waste precious time and energy. Misery and fatigue Misery and fatigue can amplify the feeling of despair to the point where it seems that you can’t possibly make it. You can gain strength from self awareness and self inventory. Be honest with yourself: You’re hot, you’re cold, you’re hurt, you’re fatigued, you’re frankly scared. Then admit that these feelings and conditions warp your judgment and make everything seem hopeless. Some people wilt very quickly.

Carrying inadequate gear: Not having durable or warm clothing and footgear or the tools to start a fire are the prerequisites for a deadly hypothermia scenario.
